Nick Neale [General Manager]
I have been employed in the leisure industry for almost all of my working life (25 years).
Having gone to school in North Devon and then studying A levels at Yeovil College, I undertook an HND in Business Studies at Teesside University in the mid-80s. I then qualified with a distinction in a Masters Degree in Sociology of Sport and Sports Management from Leicester University.
I moved to Bridport in 2001 to take up the position of General Manager with Bridport & West Dorset Sports Trust. Previously, I managed a large leisure facility near Maidstone in Kent.
I am the Regional Quest Assessor for the South West, working as an Associate for PMP Consultancy, which involves visiting and inspecting other leisure facilities in the South of England and Channel Islands. It is this experience that has encouraged me to witness and use examples of good and best practice gleaned from the industry and introduce the same at Bridport Leisure Centre.
On a personal note, I am married with three children. My sporting prowess may best be desribed as an 'all rounder'! I play Dorset league squash for Bridport's 1st Team, I enjoy playing cricket for the infamous Squanderers and I enjoy sailing and crew on race nights at Castle Cove Sailing Club, Portland in the summer months.
I am looking forward to taking Bridport Leisure Centre into its next exciting stage of its development, providing quality facilities for the local community and visitors to West Dorset. Being involved with sport and watching the positive impact that it has on people's lives is very rewarding.
Best advise given - having fun can seriously improve your life!
