Bigfish Swim School Learner Pool Gala

Bridport Leisure Centre’s Bigfish Swim School held its 2^nd Gala for swimmers who have lessons in the Learner Pool on Saturday 12^th June 2010.

A total of 45 young swimmers took part in a series of 4 mini galas in the Learner Pool, one for each Bigfish swimming level.  There were 3 events, a width or length on their front, a width or length on their back and a Treasure Hunt Race.

Every swimmer performed really well over their 3 events after which there was time for a play session in the pool while the results were finalised followed by a presentation ceremony with every swimmer receiving a certificate for participating and medals and certificates for the 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place swimmers in each event.

The enthusiastic support of watching parents and siblings added to a very enjoyable afternoon.  I would like to thank the Lions for providing the medals and certificates, Maria Bowen-Ashwin for organising the gala, Nisa Bellenie for helping, all the parents who came on poolside to help with the timekeeping and every swimmer for taking part, thank you also to parents for bringing the swimmers along.  The Bigfish Gala for the Main Pool will be held in November and the Learner Pool Gala will return next year.
